FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS
Our $425 transaction fee, explained
Straight answers to the questions buyers and sellers ask.
What is the $425 transaction fee?
Part of how our office is paid. Our compensation is a commission plus a flat $425 transaction fee, the same on every sale, written into your agreement before you sign.
When do I pay it?
At closing, on your closing statement. There's nothing to pay now, and if your sale doesn't close, there's no fee.
Is it part of the commission?
No. The commission is in your agreement; the transaction fee is a separate flat amount and the same on every sale.
Is this new?
No. Most brokerages charge a transaction or administrative fee, usually between $400 and $600. Ours is $425, in writing, before you sign.
Does CENTURY 21 receive the fee?
It's our office's fee. Each CENTURY 21 office is independently owned and operated and sets its own fees.
I'm buying. Can the seller pay it?
Often, yes. Your agent can write it into your offer as a seller-paid closing cost.
My deal was already under contract before October 27. Do I owe it?
No. Deals under contract on or before October 27, 2026 close exactly as written.
Why am I being asked to sign an addendum?
Only if your agreement was signed before October 27, 2026. The one-page addendum adds our new name and the fee. New agreements already include both.
Does anything else change?
No. Same office, same people, same agent. Your price, your commission and your closing date stay exactly as they are.
